Summary Kevin Behind The Build EP.3: In this installation of the series, Kevin Lawrence’s RHD Nissan S14 is going under the knife yet again but this time coming out better than ever. With a larger radiator (being pushed to the rear), a new dog box and more…Kevin also explains a bit about what it’s like to be a new driver in professional drifting.

Summary Nate Hamilton The Build EP.4:  As the final phases are approaching, Nate is realizing the need for change and the upside of embracing change. Watch as the Nissan S13 as it gets violated to the extreme; of being welded, stripped, cut apart and more. Follow witness to just how much beauty can be created from some an array of processes. This episode is a great representation of not only the mind-set of a driver, needed to succeed in this industry but also the work ethic and team work necessary to produce such quality, which in the end separates those who strive towards the same goal.

Behind The Build – Episode 1 Enjuku Racing

You see these guys out there, drifting, attacking the pavement, slamming gears and unfortunately sometimes slamming walls.  However what does it take to build a competitive, high horsepower, completely capable drift machine from the ground up?  What kind of parts does it take?  How long does it take to build a drift car?

Nate Hamilton and team from Enjuku Racing are taking you on this very voyage in a new video series they have, appropriately called, “Behind The Build”.  Along the way they will show you what is involved from taking a car and building it into a “race car”.  See the time it takes, the parts they use and even pick up some tips that you can use on your very own drift car.

In this first episode Nate shows you the tear down of his original S13 chassis.  It was the one that took him from enthusiast to Formula Drift Pro competitions.  Even though it was a dedicated drift car, he really details the tear down of the vehicle.  The intention is to strip away all the bad, and build a vehicle from the ground up that is 100% racecar, without any unneeded materials, with a top of the line experienced crew.

It’s a great series, check it out!  Nate Hamilton, Kevin Lawrence and Josh McGuire of Enjuku Racing are all drifting on Konig Hypergram wheels for the 2016 season.  They run 17×9 et25 in the front and 18×9.5 et 25 in the rear!

ENJOY!!

Formula Drift Atlanta Recap

This passed weekend you could find 10 – 12,000 of your closest drifting friends all huddled together watching motorsport madness as cars strategically slid around the mapped out Road Atlanta course of Formula Drift.  There was a lot going on at Road Atlanta over the weekend.  Formula Drift held their  series there (PRO, PRO2, World) and Global Time Attack was also there at the exact same time.

Driving for Konig was FD Pro driver Patrick Mordaunt and Pro2 Drivers Nate Hamilton, Kevin Lawrence, and Josh McGuire.  You can see all their finishes here:

PRO: http://www.formulad.com/standings-2016

PRO2: http://www.formulad.com/pro2-standings-2016

On the PRO side Pat Mordaunt was on FIRE!!  I mean seriously Atlanta is a great track for him and he didn’t disappoint.  After qualifying Pat drew Dean Kearny and was able to defeat him to advance to the top 16.  In the round of top 16 Mordaunt was matched up with 2nd seated qualifier and former Formula Drift Champion Chris Forsberg.  The match would be a tough but extremely exciting.  That is EXACTLY what it was.  Pat drove flat out both runs and even though Forsbergs Nissan 370z has around 1000hp and Mordaunt’s 350z only has about 650hp they drove neck in neck.  So much so that it pushed the judges to call it a draw and make them run ONE MORE TIME!

Unfortunately after hanging some new tires Pat dipped off track with his front wheels and the match went to Forsberg.  Either way it was still an amazing effort and driving from Pat Mordaunt.  We’re proud to have him driving for us.

Check out how exciting the run is….watch it here:

MORDAUNT VS FORSBERG – FDATL

Wrecked Magazine also had some interesting thoughts about Pat.  Joey Redmond (editor of Wrecked Magazine) wrote his “10 Things I learned at Formula Drift Road Atlanta”.  But here is a quote: “This track just gets Pat Mordaunt or Pat just gets this track. He always manages to impress here. I think if his Top 16 battle was against anyone but Forsberg or Vaughn on this weekend he would of been in the Great 8 easily.”

You can check that out here: Wrecked Magazine – 10 things learned from FD Atlanta
